Job Summary

Bartlett Milling Company is seeking a Commercial Manager to manage and support Bartlett’s wheat purchasing program, account management, sales and distribution, and associated business administration. The position is located in Statesville, North Carolina and will support Bartlett’s strategic market activities across the southeast United States.

The functions of the Commercial Manager include but are not limited to: direct wheat purchasing program, support account management and associated contracts, maintain account receivables reporting and coordinate as needed with salespersons, manage office administration functions, and promote excellent customer service cross-functionally throughout organization.

The position is an excellent opportunity for an entry to mid-level professional to apply their strong agri-business interests across broad commercial activities of a leading milling company. The position requires a well-rounded business leader; adaptable to Bartlett’s product mix and diverse customer base.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is competitive for the position, based on education level and experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; preferred degree in agricultural business or economics, business administration, accounting, or related areas.
  • Preferred 2 years of experience in business administration.
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Excellent written and communication skills: strong organizational and time management abilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote strong working relationships with wheat producers, local elevators, and brokers.
  • Manage wheat purchases and associated inventory and logistic schedules.
  • Develop fundamental expertise of National Grain and Feed Association Trade Rules.
  • Support flour account management; including market quotes, pricing, contract updates, pricing execution and associated risk management.
  • Support office administrative functions including customer service, production reports, inventory, and month end duties.
  • Maintain account receivables reporting and coordination with sales including timely collection.
  • Develop fundamental milling knowledge of operations, product mix, quality, and food safety.
  • Develop fundamental baking knowledge and flour applications.
  • Develop strong transportation expertise to support receiving inputs and outbound delivery.
  • Assist strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Support areas such as regulatory requirements and audits.
  • Demonstrate a highly-disciplined approach to the described management duties.

Physical Demands and Requirements

This job is not physically strenuous, but customer facilities may present different physical demands. You will need the ability to lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally more. This job may require the ability to ascend/descend stairs.

This job requires the ability to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and memos, and to communicate clearly with personnel at all levels and customers.

It is important to have vision that permits close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to identify and distingush colors is also important.

Working Environment

This job is primarily indoors, but may include some outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments.
