Bartlett Milling produces a full line of commercial patent flours and animal feeds at our mills in the Mid-Atlantic States and the Midwest. We produce flour for bakeries, distribution centers, restaurants and institutions and for export; and we formulate and produce feed for livestock and pets. Bartlett’s flour milling capacity exceeds four million pounds per day. We produce both bulk and bag flour and specialize in milling custom flour blends tailored to meet our customers’ specific needs. Bartlett maintains an on-site cereal chemistry lab and technical staff at each mill to monitor flour quality and test our products. And, we maintain rail and truck fleets to ensure timely delivery to our customers. Our dedication to quality and to customers is reflected in the many awards Bartlett has been given for its superior service.

Bartlett Milling produces a wide range of specially formulated feeds for dairy cattle, beef cattle, horses, swine, poultry, dogs, game birds, rabbits, deer, goats, sheep and ducks. Our dedication to quality service is demonstrated in our nutritionist, who works with industry experts on feed formulations as well as working directly with producers to address feeding issues. We deliver both bulk and bagged feed directly to customers. Our feeds also are available through retail outlets throughout the southeast.

Bartlett Milling sells feeds and other animal care products through our distribution centers in Goldsboro and Shelby, North Carolina, Florence, South Carolina, and Rustburg, Virginia.

Job Summary

Bartlett Milling Company is seeking dedicated, hard-working individuals who are looking for a chance to prove they can learn new tasks and advance. Bartlett operates three mills in the US producing a variety of flour and feed products. These mills are in Statesville and Wilsons Mills, NC and Coffeyville, KS.

The goal for the Operations Management Traineewill be to learn the operational side of the business from the ground up through on-the-job training. Opportunities for advancement to supervisory, and eventually management, positions are plentiful but will depend on the hard work, good attitude and intelligence of the candidate.

The management trainee will be rotated throughout various area of the facility, including

  • Grain elevator
  • Cleaning house
  • Flour mill
  • Packing, load-out and warehouse area
  • Feed mill
  • Trucking department
  • Quality assurance
  • Computerized production control

We estimate that it will take approximately 24 months to rotate through all these departments. This training will take place mainly in Statesville, NC with a few months also spent in Wilsons Mills, NC. The trainee must also be willing to work at our mill in Coffeyville, KS.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a four year college degree, preferably in Milling Science, Feed Science, Agricultural Mechanics or other related program
  • Have strong mechanical aptitude
  • Have flexibility to move as management positions become available
  • Have an agricultural background

This position will be extremely hands-on, with plenty of first person contact with the equipment, machinery and processes that are used in a commercial flour and feed mill.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

Prefer a candidate with a Bachelors degree inMilling Science, Feed Science, Agricultural Mechanics or other related program. We will consider someone with an equivalent amount of job experience.

You must have reliable transportation to be available for work 24/7.

Must be energetic andhave a positive attitude

Physical Demands and Requirements

This job can be physically strenuous (demanding) from time to time, and a successful candidate will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces, walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment. This job may require the ability to ride a belt man lift and occasionally work at significant heights, with requisite balance and equilibrium. The job requires the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. This job require the ability to ascend/descend ladders.

This job requires wearing personal protective equipment, including hardhats, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and respiratory protection and ear protection as appropriate.

This job requires the ability to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and memos, and to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors.

It is important to have vision that permits close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. If it is necessary in this position to grad grain, the ability to identify and distingush colors is also important.

You also need the ability to detect odors and the ability to understand and discern safety warning systems.

Working Environment

This is a physical job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments. This job may include working at heights and in confined spaces. It may be noisy and dusty at times.
